Are you joining us for this month’s workshop: ReWrite Your Story?
There are some good nuggets here even if you can't make it! There will be a replay too ... just sayin'!
As we gear up to dive into the sneaky hidden stories we tell ourselves, here are some powerful exercises to spark reflection and build awareness. These will help you start identifying where your inner dialogue might need a rewrite!
Reflect on Your Wins (Big and Small)
Take a moment to write down three wins from the past week, no matter how small. Reflect on each one and notice how it feels to give yourself credit.
What does this tell you about how often you acknowledge your successes?
Observe Your Reactions to Compliments
Try giving someone a compliment and observe their reaction. Or, the next time someone gives you a compliment, notice how you respond. Do you brush it off or accept it confidently?
Write down your response. What does this reveal about how you perceive yourself?
You Are Your Constant Companion
Think about it: you’re with yourself 24/7. Whether you’re out in the world or alone in quiet moments, your inner dialogue is always there. And here’s the thing: you’re the first person who hears everything you say—even the things you don’t say out loud. Those unspoken thoughts carry weight, shaping how you see yourself and what you believe you’re capable of.
If your inner dialogue is filled with self-criticism, doubt, or replaying failures, you’re creating a mental environment that stifles growth. But imagine the impact if you became your own biggest supporter, speaking with kindness, recognizing your efforts, and reinforcing your potential. This shift doesn’t just affect you; it has a ripple effect on everyone around you.
The Ripple Effect of Self-Kindness
When you start speaking kindly to yourself, it’s contagious. People around you notice your confidence, positivity, and resilience. Your self-kindness becomes an example for others, encouraging them to rethink their own inner dialogue. Imagine a world where everyone speaks to themselves with empathy, celebrates their wins, and owns their growth. It would be a world full of confident, compassionate people, uplifting each other along the way
.
Why Self-Talk Matters So Much
You are the only person there for every high, low, and in-between moment of your life. The way you talk to yourself shapes your feelings, actions, and the life you build. By choosing constructive self-talk, you’re not just enhancing your day-to-day experience; you’re empowering yourself to take on challenges, pursue goals, and grow in ways you might never have thought possible.
